Here are four warning signs you should look for when you buy a home.

What are some things to look for when buying a home? When most buyers view a home, they’re making an emotional connection with the layout, neighborhood, and community; it’s almost like a first date. When you work with an experienced agent, they will point out things you might overlook and tell you what to watch out for when looking at homes. Here are a few to keep in mind:

1. Too much scent. If there’s too much going on in the scent department, there’s a chance the seller is covering up another odor.

2. Signs of deferred maintenance. Look for signals that the seller might’ve ignored routined maintenance. If they did, it can lead to other problems down the road.

3. Water damage. Water wants to get in a home, and it will find a way if it can. Look for signs of moisture and leaking pipes.

4. Improper ventilation. A home needs air to breathe and stay healthy.

You don’t need to be a home inspector to check out these warning signs and decide if you’ll go on that second date. If you have any questions or real estate needs, please call or email me. I’d love to help.
